COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS EASED IN U3A PREMISES
12 November 2021
Message from the President
In line with updated ACT COVID-19 Public Health requirements, from Friday 12 November there will be changes to COVID-19 restrictions. These changes apply to U3A activities in our premises at Cook, Flynn and Hughes. Members will have to follow the operators' rules in non-U3A premises.
The two changes in requirements on U3A premises are:
- We are now allowed to have one person per 2 square metres in our premises, doubling the number of members who can attend our indoor activities.
- Face masks are no longer mandatory. However, in line with the government's recommendations to the community, the committee encourages members to continue to wear face masks indoors as appropriate in U3A activities as "a simple and practical way to minimise transmission of the virus".
There are no changes to the Check-in CBR, social distancing or hygiene requirements.
These new arrangements have been included in an updated COVID Safety Plan which you can find here.
Apart from the immediate relief of pressure on courses currently running, this is great news for 2022. Course leaders can now plan to have one person per 2 square metres in their courses in 2022. The exact occupancy limits for each of our rooms at Cook, Flynn and Hughes are included in our updated COVID Safety Plan for 12 November 2021.

President
